How to design your own lab-grown diamond engagement ring
The studio above builds a ring in three parts — the center diamond, the head that holds it, and the band — and shows every combination in an interactive 3D preview before you order. Here is how it works, step by step.
1. Choose the center diamond
Pick a shape (round, oval, princess, cushion, emerald, pear, radiant, Asscher, marquise, or heart) and a size from 0.50 to 4.00 carats. Then set color (D to J), clarity (FL to SI2), and cut (Ideal, Excellent, Very Good, or Good). Color shifts the preview slightly. Clarity and cut change the price and the stone we set; they are not drawn as different stones in this view. If you are unsure where to spend, cut usually matters most for sparkle; our guide to choosing a lab-grown engagement ring explains the trade-offs. Availability, specifications, and certification are confirmed before production, and every center diamond ships with its grading report.
2. Choose the head
The head is the top of the ring that holds the center stone. Options include 4-prong and 6-prong, tulip, bezel, several halo styles, cluster, and vintage trefoil. Not sure between a single stone and a halo? Read solitaire vs halo.
3. Choose the band
Bands range from a plain solitaire or knife-edge band to pavé, channel, three-stone, twist, and bypass styles. Pavé and channel styles include lab-grown accent diamonds.
4. Pick your metals
The head and band each take their own metal: 14K white, yellow, or rose gold, 18K white or yellow gold, or platinum. Matching them gives a classic look; mixing them is a deliberate two-tone design.
5. Size, engraving, and checkout
Choose a US ring size from 3 to 9, in half sizes — the size guide shows how to measure a ring you already own. Add free engraving of up to 20 characters, save the design to your account if you want to come back to it, and add it to your cart. Each ring is made to order; the estimated ship date is shown above the button, and we photograph the finished ring and send the photos for your approval before it ships.
Custom ring FAQ
How long does a custom lab-grown engagement ring take?
Rings are made to order and typically ship in 15–20 days; the estimated ship date for your design appears in the studio. Before shipping, we send photos of the finished ring for your approval. After a ring ships, standard delivery takes 5–10 business days within the US and Canada, at our standard shipping rates. See Shipping & Returns.
Does the diamond come with a certificate?
Yes. Every center diamond ships with its grading report, and you can choose the grading lab when you order — or contact support@11diamond.com to confirm the options for your diamond. Learn how the main labs differ in IGI vs GIA for lab-grown diamonds.
Can I return or exchange a custom ring?
Custom and personalized items are final sale and cannot be returned unless damaged or defective. If your ring arrives damaged or incorrect, contact support@11diamond.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos. Custom rings cannot be exchanged for a different style or size; resizing is available for a fee — contact us for a quote.
Can I change my design after ordering?
You can modify or cancel an order within 1 hour of placing it by emailing support@11diamond.com with your order number. Once production has started, the design cannot be changed.
